Unlike standard art school admissions requirements, our approach is to mentor talent, which begins with a stringent candidacy requirement; we invest and cultivate the next leading artists in the video game design & animation industries.
We believe in diversity. We believe that this is accomplished by opening our admissions to those who are or have been stifled by traditional higher education, by inviting all to apply, regardless of their race, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, or socioeconomic status. We promote diversity through our collective resources and superior training mechanisms that focus on an individual’s talent, not their social standing. This approach gives a unique group of individuals the opportunity to participate in the process, expand their horizons, promote personal wealth, and contribute to societal growth–all without the end result of a hefty student loan, which can be a significant factor in career and financial advancement.

Emile Cohl Atelier’s selection process is based upon a highly regarded cognitive test which assess applicants’ skill sets in relation to personality, and motivation.
The first step in this process consists of creating an account on SlideRoom and selecting the desired certificate program- Storyboard Artist or Environment Artist. Candidates may only apply to one program per term. Failure to comply will result in an incomplete application. All portfolio questions should include links to any websites or social media platforms where public access is granted. Please note private or password protected sites will not be considered. Instagram, ArtStation, and personal websites are preferred. These sources should include work that accurately reflects multidisciplinary skillsets, cognitive abilities and talent. More info on the portfolio guidelines may be found here.
In the second step, all eligible candidates will be asked to take a personality assessment and send a self-recorded video. Both the assessment and the video allows for our selection panel to identify motivated applications. Guidelines for the video will be shared during the selection process.
Lastly, the third step allots remaining candidates the opportunity of a rigorous skills assessment based upon their chosen program. The final 30 candidates (15 per program) will be offered a seat in the following term.
